Went golfing on a Saturday for the last time ever. I was with 2 buddies, and behind us was this group of 4 drunk hooligans.

We offered to let them play through us but they refused because the group behind them were also their friends. They flipped their cart multiple times. They shot the ball over our heads multiple times. They were loud, they would skid to a stop in the gravel, and they would watch loud videos on their phones while others tee'd off.

We were stuck behind another slow group, as is often the case on weekends.

On the 16th the ball lands near me, probably only about 10 meters away. I walk to it and aim at them. Before I swing, one of them yells at me to not touch it, saying he's sorry bla bla bla.

That's the closest I've come to hitting someone's ball back. Saturday golf at noon is really something else.

You never called the clubhouse after watching them flip their cart multiple times?

  2. PerfectTiming_2

If it was the first time then I wouldn’t touch it but if they kept doing it then every shot near is getting sent somewhere else

should have called the pro shop/rangers long before 16

Call the clubhouse after the first deliberate action and avoid all confrontation. Record if you must to document, should you get no help from the ranger or whoever responds.

Worst case, you leave the course on that hole and just go to the pro shop with your evidence. They’ll help you out and be glad you didn’t start an altercation that forces way more work upon them.

Only way to fix this is to kick these guys off the course and ban them if they’re that bad, neither is your job 👍

First time give them a break. Second time either stomp it or throw it in the woods/lake. Plus a call to the clubhouse.

I hit one in a lake once after multiple times being hit into. It felt great and the owner of the ball had the good sense to hang back and knock it off.

The “pro shop staff never does anything” complaint doesn’t apply if they are flipping the cart. They’ll definitely get kicked out for that.

I would think the photo posted here alone would be enough to make the club house get involved.

I thought you were joking about them flipping the cart until I saw the background of your photo. Flipping a golf cart is a good way to die. I’d be calling that in so quick

first time someone hits into me (within feet of me) I will tee the ball up and leave it in the fairway. Usually that sends a message to back off, happens again I’m calling the ranger.

  11. I did once. And the guy walked about 200 yards all the way to me. Was a hilarious walk and few minutes. By the time he got to me, he had calmed down lol

Yes. One group behind us shot on a short par 4. I was playing with my wife and 1 buddy. They shot and the ball grazed my wife’s arm. I was angry but also I understand people can get ahold of it sometimes. We hollered back saying “yell fore next time”. Then the NEXT FUCKING GUY TEEs OFF! It landed about 6 feet from me. I hit their ball right back at them and proceeded to wait on the green for them to get there. My wife convinced me to just move on but I was about to blow my top. I understand a mistake but you don’t hit again after actually hitting someone. Fucking stupid.

Nah, I’d either pocket the ball or hit it somewhere they can’t get it back.

Taking pictures and posting about it on reddit doesn’t help a darn thing. Call the ranger immediately and solve the problem.

You should have just tossed the smallest, drunkest one into the nearest available water hazard. Problem solved.

  16. Equivalent-Search455

I’d still chunk it hitting back at them

  17. You’re never golfing again because of the group behind you?

  18. Harry_Potter3

If it’s a nice ball, I keep it. If it’s junk, it’s going in the woods.

  19. deadkane1987

No, but I’ve mashed a ball hit into us into the ground before.

  20. XxSpruce_MoosexX

Why didn’t you beat the piss out of them and toss them in a lake

  21. meltedvanillaice

I havent hit one back at someone but I’ve launched a few into the woods or water.

  22. kbrown05515

I have never hit someone’s ball back to them. I have however launched someone’s ball deep into the trees after their drive hit my shin.

I’d never launch the ball back. Then they could use it again.

Was at a private club-I was a member. There were a few guests playing behind us, it was a OPEN day, like no one was there, maybe 5 carts all morning before us, home 2 these women appeared behind us and keep trying to press us, refusing to play though that we offered on the 3,4 and 5th tees!

I duffed my drive about 200 yards, get up to my ball, all of a sudden a ball bounces off my feet. I immediately turned around to hear “don’t touch that it’s my ball” from the woman on the tee, so I hit it back at them, hitting there carts wind screen where the ball lodged.

Turns out they were guests of a member that were looking at membership.

Well the head pro (a buddy of mine) calls me and asks what happened I explained everything, and after checking the cameras (again high end private club) they were removed from the property and not invited to return and there application was denied. And the person who’s guests did all this was not allowed to return with guests for the remainder of the year (this happened in February)
